Surgical, Treatment for Hirschsprung¢¥s Disease



Abstract
At the Department of -Thoracic Surgery, the National Medical Center, the authors experienced-18 cases, of congenital megacolon (Hirschsprung¢¥s disease) during 9-year.,period= from Feb. .1959to December 1968.
Operative technique. of Swenson in 14 cases and Duhamel in-4 cases were used- The length of¡þaganglionic segments ranged- from 17 cm to 35cm. Early postoperative complications were occurred in 11 cases of which 9 cases were cured with treatment. There were 2__ cases of deaths and mortality rate was 11. 1%. The most serious and intractable cause of death. was leak of-anastomosis.. The follow: up; period ranged 6-15 years in the presented series and the salvage rate of-determined-cases was-777-7-%,
